The Campaigners Tom Roberts, October Films Tom Roberts is the founder of October Films and a veteran documentary filmmaker with over fifty films to his credit. He specialises in international current affairs and long-form feature documentaries, and has recently completed his first feature film staring John Malkovich, Vera Farmiga, Thomas Kretschmann and Natalie Press. Over the course of his career he has amassed some 35 international awards and nominations for his work. Leslie Woodhead, freelance director Leslie Woodhead is one of Britain's most distinguished documentary film makers, and winner of many international awards . He began his 40 year career at Granada Television in Manchester as a Graduate Trainee in 1961 and has produced and directed major dramatised documentaries for the BBC and Granada. His recent work includes "CHILDREN OF BESLAN" about the Beslan school siege in Russia, screened in UK and USA in September 2005 (Royal Television SocIety Awards for Journalism and for Best Documentary 2006, French FIPA Award 2006, US Peabody Award 2006, BAFTA Flaherty Award Nominee 2006, EMMY Best Director Nominee 2006) . Friederike Freier, Le Vision Film Productions Alex Cooke, Renegade Pictures Benetta Adamson, freelance director (webmaster) Benetta Adamson started in arts programming, moving into observational documentaries 15 years ago. Her film Thalidomide: Life at 40, for BBC Two, celebrates three Thalidomide affected people at age 40 that were not expected to live past birth. The documentary was nominated for a BAFTA Flaherty Award. Her next film, for the BBC’s new ONE Life strand, followed a young dwarf woman from her native Jersey to her first meeting with others like herself. It won an RTS award for Best Factual programme.
